The Eastern Allies have finished the NAB AFLW Under-18 National Championships with a 17-point loss to Queensland at Bond University on the Gold Coast.

The Eastern Allies got the early jump, kicking two goals to one in the opening term to create an early buffer, but were unable to meaningfully hit the scoreboard for the remainder of the match, kicking five behinds to Queensland’s 4.3 in the following three quarters.

Mia King was again a standout for the Eastern Allies, gathering 16 disposals while laying five tackles and having five clearances.

Netty Garlo was also one of the side’s best, laying eight tackles – the most of anyone on the ground – in a highly impressive game in defence.

Tahlia Bortignon impressed in her return to the side, while Libby and Chloe Haines continued their eye-catching series with strong performances.

Lauren Stevenson was again influential with nine disposals, as were Camilla Taylor and Priscilla Odwogo, with Odwogo particularly impressing, gaining recognition in the team’s best players.

The Eastern Allies finish the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships with one win and two losses, although positive signs for the entire group, including the Tasmanian contingent were evident within every match.

NSW trio Alyce Parker, Alexia Hamilton and Brianna McFarlane were all recognised with All-Australian selection, while Parker was also recognised as the Eastern Allies’ MVP.
