Round 11 of the AFL Premiership season was headlined by the stunning debut of Tasmanian journeyman Brody Mihocek and the battle of two Tasmanian ruckmen on the Dreamtime at the ‘G stage, writes Josh Partridge.

Sydney vs Carlton – SCG, Friday 01/06/18

Liam Jones – Carlton #14

TSL Club Represented: North Hobart

A member of the Carlton backline that performed quite strongly this week, Jones was prolific in the air with nine marks under Friday night lights. These marks were accompanied by 11 disposals at 73%, with eight intercept possessions and five rebound 50’s singling one of Jones’ better games for 2018. Always in the contest, Jones had 12 one percenters throughout, toiling hard for the Blues as they pushed the Swans for three quarters. AFL Fantasy Points: 62

Gold Coast vs Geelong – Metricon Stadium, Saturday 02/06/18

Lachie Weller – Gold Coast #14

Originally From: Burnie Dockers

Weller collected 14 disposals in the Suns’ big loss to Geelong in their first game at Metricon Stadium this season. Piling on the pressure with 25 pressure acts throughout the game, Weller had four marks and three inside 50’s, creating chances for his side in a game where not too many were available. Lachie is turning out to be one of the more consistent players in the Gold Coast side in 2018. AFL Fantasy Points: 64

Aaron Hall – Gold Coast #33

TSL Club Represented: North Hobart

Hall’s run of horrible luck continues with the flashy forward/midfielder suffering a shoulder injury in the second quarter of the match. Attempting to tackle, Hall was shrugged off and was in instant pain. Disappointingly, Hall was looking good for Gold Coast with eight disposals and five marks to his name before his injury. AFL Fantasy Points: 36

Jake Kolodjashnij – Geelong #8

TSL Club Represented: Launceston

Finding his targets again, Jake had 16 disposals with a disposal efficiency of 88%. With a season-high 11 handballs, Kolodjashnij was an important link in the chain as the Cats ran rampant over a deflated Gold Coast unit. Kolodjashnij was also dominant overhead with five marks and seven one percenters in the big win. AFL Fantasy Points: 52

Bellchambers and Nankervis had a terrific duel on the big stage. IC: AFL Photos

Essendon vs Richmond – MCG, Saturday 02/06/18

Tom Bellchambers – Essendon #2

TSL Club Represented: Launceston/North Launceston

The battle of our two Tasmanian behemoths came off pretty even with both contributing strongly to their team’s causes. Bellchambers collected 17 disposals, five marks, a career high four rebound 50’s and most importantly, 39 hit-outs in the Bombers big Dreamtime at the ‘G loss. Bellchambers is proving his worth as a key and integral member of Essendon’s side and should find himself re-signed at the Bombers towards the end of the year. AFL Fantasy Points: 109

Jack Riewoldt – Richmond #8

TSL Club Represented: Clarence

Riewoldt surprisingly took a backseat role to fourth gamer Callum Moore in the forward line this week, with Jack kicking 1.0 and Moore competing strongly all night. Riewoldt had 10 possessions at 40% efficiency, but still managed to create opportunities for the Tigers with four inside 50’s and four score involvements signalling a minor change in role. AFL Fantasy Points: 39

Toby Nankervis – Richmond #25

TSL Club Represented: North Launceston

Named in the Tigers’ best players for his all-round effort on Saturday night, Nank played his role perfectly within the Tigers line-up. With 13 disposals, four marks, two goals and 17 hit-outs, Nankervis made up for being beaten in the hit outs with a strong performance across the field, acting as a key presence up forward for the reigning premiers. In addition to his goals, Nank was involved in five scoring plays and laid five tackles – including a bone crunching tackle on David Zaharakis – to put the pressure on. AFL Fantasy Points: 85

West Coast vs St Kilda – Optus Stadium, Saturday 02/06/18

Jimmy Webster – St Kilda #29

TSL Club Represented: Glenorchy

Webster just keeps getting it done for the Saints and continues to fly under almost everyone’s radar as a player to watch. 21 disposals at an efficiency of 71%may have been slightly quieter than some of his recent output, but was still one that has helped cement and underline his importance to this side. Racking up 20 uncontested possessions, Webster found space and pushed forward for St Kilda as they gave the Eagles a fright in the west. AFL Fantasy Points: 76

Maverick Weller – St Kilda #44

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Big Mav charged hard for the Saints all game and was rewarded by being named in his side’s best players in the 13-point loss to the Eagles. Mav amassed 20 disposals all around the ground, kicking one goal, creating three inside 50 chances and being involved in five scoring plays to set the Saints’ comeback in motion. AFL Fantasy Points: 72

North Melbourne vs Brisbane – Etihad Stadium, Sunday 03/06/18

Ben Brown – North Melbourne #50

TSL Club Represented: Devonport/ Glenorchy

North weren’t fazed by the late withdrawal of Brown’s goal-kicking partner in crime Jarrad Waite, as they cruised to a 54-point win over the Lions. Brown contributed with a two-goal performance, accompanied by 14 disposals and five marks. The Tasmanian Kangaroo continues to lead the Coleman Medal with a tally of 35 goals, four ahead of next best Jesse Hogan. AFL Fantasy Points: 55

Mitch Robinson – Brisbane #5

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

It was a big, rollercoaster of a day for Mitch Robinson as his side went down to North Melbourne. Mitch spent time off the ground early for work on his calf, then was reported for striking Shaun Higgins with one second left in the third quarter, and on Monday it was confirmed that Robbo has broken his toe and will be out for several weeks. Mitch had 24 disposals on Sunday and is now $2000 poorer after the incident with Higgins. AFL Fantasy Points: 79

Collingwood vs Fremantle – MCG, Sunday 03/06/18

It was a sweet debut for Brody Mihocek. IC: AFL Photos

Brody Mihocek – Collingwood #41

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

It’s been a long road for Mihocek to finally debut at AFL level and what a debut it was! After beginning his career at Burnie Dockers, before spending time at Essendon (VFL), Werribee and finally tasting premiership success at Port Melbourne last year, he was drafted and got his first sniff this weekend. Mihocek burst onto the scene with four goals, was named in the best and proved to be an important link between defence and attack for the victors. A terrific debut that will hold himself, and his club, in good stead. AFL Fantasy Points: 78

Alex Pearce – Fremantle #25

TSL Club Represented: Devonport

Whilst his good mate Mihocek was having the time of his life, Pearce was sitting on the bench in pain as the Fremantle defender injured his right ankle in a contest in the third quarter. The ankle was kicked and caught underneath himself during a Brodie Grundy tackle and Pearce played no further part in the match. Hopefully it’s not major for Pearce, who has been hampered by injuries in the past before becoming one of the competition’s best key defenders this season. AFL Fantasy Points: 23

Adelaide vs GWS – Adelaide Oval, Sunday 03/06/18

Hugh Greenwood – Adelaide #1

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

As the Giants upset the Crows at Adelaide Oval for their first win since April, Greenwood contributed strongly for his side. The contested ball winning machine had 20 disposals, 17 of which were contested, at an efficiency of 70%, while also laying seven tackles. Unfortunately for Greenwood and the Crows, he struggled in front of goal, kicking 0.2 but created many an opportunity with four inside 50’s. AFL Fantasy Points: 90
