Round 16 of the AFL Premiership season has been run and won, with the returns of Robbie Fox and Jimmy Webster and the continued hot form of Jack Riewoldt and Ben Brown headlining Josh Partridge’s weekly wrap.

Sydney vs Geelong – SCG, Thursday 05/07/18

Robbie Fox – Sydney #42

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Recalled into the Swans line-up for the first time since round seven, Fox seems to be a Geelong specialist, stepping it up against the big guns of the competition for the second time this season. Fox had career highs of nearly every statistic imaginable, with 20 touches at 70% efficiency, rotating between the forward and backlines for the Swans. AFL Fantasy Points: 83 – Career High

Jake Kolodjashnij – Geelong #8

Robbie Fox was impressive for the Swans. IC: AFL Photos

TSL Club Represented: Launceston

After last week’s performance, it seemed obvious that Jake Kolodjashnij needed to step up and prove himself within the competition’s best backline. And that he did, collecting 16 disposals at an efficiency of 62%, including a season high 11 handballs. Accompanied by four marks, three tackles and three rebound 50’s, Jake has well and truly assured himself of a spot in the Cats’ best 22. AFL Fantasy Points: 62

Richmond vs Adelaide – MCG, Friday 06/07/18

Jack Riewoldt – Richmond #8

TSL Club Represented: Clarence

Jack Riewoldt has hit a patch of dangerous form as the Tigers juggernaut continues to roll on. 18 disposals, including 10 contested possessions, at an efficiency of 67% told the story for Jack on Friday night. In front of goal, Jack slotted 2.1 to sit equal fifth on the Coleman Medal tally, level with suspended Giant Jeremy Cameron on 35 goals for the season. AFL Fantasy Points: 93

Toby Nankervis – Richmond #25

TSL Club Represented: North Launceston

Once again, Toby Nankervis went down in the head-to-head hit-out count with Crows Ruckman Sam Jacobs, but it was his work around the ground that continues to impress the Tiger faithful. Nank had 31 hit-outs, 16 disposals, four marks and three tackles as the Tigers accounted for the Crows by a mammoth 47 points in the Grand Final replay. AFL Fantasy Points: 90

Hugh Greenwood – Adelaide #1

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

Hugh Greenwood keeps pumping away unnoticed and under the radar for the Crows as one of their more consistent players in 2018. Friday night brought 22 disposals, 15 of which were contested, at an efficiency rate of 68%. Greenwood was prolific from the centre square, with eight clearances pushing the Crows forward, even drifting forward to kick the 16th goal of his career. AFL Fantasy Points: 76

Brisbane vs Carlton – Gabba, Saturday 07/08/18

Mitch Robinson – Brisbane #5

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

Mitch Robinson, although serviceable, has struggled to reach his heights from pre-injury in his last two matches. Coming back from a broken toe, Robinson has still managed to have a decent impact on the Lions however, as they’ve won consecutive games for the first time since 2015. Robinson finished the weekend with 12 touches, five marks, five tackles and a goal as the Lions were just way too good. AFL Fantasy Points: 65

Liam Jones – Carlton #14

TSL Club Represented: North Hobart

Jonesy was a part of the under the pump Carlton defence on Saturday that conceded 18 goals throughout. The Blues struggled to stop the dangerous Eric Hipwood, with Jones quiet himself, finishing with six disposals. Strong overhead as usual, Jones did take four marks and competed hard for three tackles on an otherwise dark day for the Blues. AFL Fantasy Points: 34

Andrew Phillips – Carlton #34

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

Unfortunately, Phillips’ day was very nearly over before it began, with the big Lauderdale ruckman sidelined with a hamstring injury that will potentially keep him out of action for several weeks. It is a frustrating setback for the former GWS big man considering he was just starting to hit form and cement a place in Carlton’s best 22. AFL Fantasy Points: 15

Port Adelaide vs St Kilda – Adelaide Oval, Saturday 07/08/18

Jimmy Webster – St Kilda #29

TSL Club Represented: Glenorchy

IC: AFL Photos

Jimmy Webster was solid in his return for the Saints, despite Port Adelaide being too good in recording a 36-point win. In a sloppy, contested game of football, ‘J-Web’collected 20 disposals at an efficiency rate of 80% as his trusty right boot helped the Saints. Slotting right back into his rebounding defender role, Webster had four rebound 50s as he settled back into the fold. AFL Fantasy Points: 85

Maverick Weller – St Kilda #44

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

It was another solid performance for Maverick Weller for the Saints on Saturday afternoon, amassing 18 disposals at an efficiency rate of 72%. Mav was able to create opportunities for the Saints, with five score involvements, three inside 50s and a behind. As usual, his tackling pressure and brute force was on show with five tackles. AFL Fantasy Points: 74

Melbourne vs Fremantle, TIO Stadium, Saturday 07/08/18

Alex Pearce  – Fremantle #25

TSL Club Represented: Devonport

If Liam Jones’ Carlton backline was ‘under the pump’, Pearce’s Fremantle backline was bombarded as the Demons racked up 78 inside 50’s – 50 more than Fremantle. Pearce collected 11 disposals in the drubbing at 64%, as Freo were completely overrun by Melbourne. It wasn’t all negative for Pearce however, as he laid five tackles to apply pressure for the Dockers. AFL Fantasy Points: 59

North Melbourne vs Gold Coast – Etihad Stadium, Sunday 08/08/18

Ben Brown – North Melbourne #50

TSL Club Represented: Devonport/ Glenorchy

A much stronger performance than the last time Brown faced off against the Suns, our Coleman Medal leader bagged four goals for the Kangaroos in the 37-point victory. Goalless last time these two squared off, Brown obviously turned it around and was named in North’s best players this week as he extends his lead atop the Coleman Medal leaderboard. AFL Fantasy Points: 73

Lachie Weller – Gold Coast #14

Originally From: Burnie Dockers

Lachie Weller is becoming one of the better players at the Gold Coast Suns as the decision to trade the number two draft pick for the ex-Docker is proving worth it. Weller had his seventh 20+ disposal game of the season on Sunday, with 25 disposals for the Suns. Those 25 included 19 uncontested possessions as Weller was consistently able to find space and also rebound 50 for his new side. AFL Fantasy Points: 87

Essendon vs Collingwood – MCG, Sunday 08/08/18

Tom Bellchambers – Essendon #2

TSL Club Represented: Launceston/North Launceston

Bellchambers was always going to have a tough task facing up against potential All-Australian Brodie Grundy, but the Tasmanian put in a highly respectable performance for the ‘Dons on Sunday. Collecting 28 hit-outs, 15 disposals at 80% efficiency and four marks for his side saw Bellchambers provide an extra number in defence for a majority of the match. AFL Fantasy Points: 75

Jeremy Howe  – Collingwood #38

TSL Club Represented: Hobart

Jeremy Howe was at his trademark best on Sunday afternoon with another solid display that included 22 disposals at an efficiency of 73%. Howe also plucked a lazy nine marks for the game, which puts him fourth in the AFL for most marks. This man is having an incredible season and is one of the AFL’s most trusted ball users when coming out of the defensive 50. AFL Fantasy Points: 85

Brody Mihocek – Collingwood #41

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Everything Brody Mihocek touched turned to gold this week, with his seven possessions coming at an 100% efficiency rating. Despite Collingwood’s injured and depleted defence, Mihocek continued his forward role and kicked a fantastic goal just as the Pies needed it in their tight encounter with the Bombers. Thriving at AFL level, Mihocek could be in for big things this year. AFL Fantasy Points: 33
