Brittany Gibson says she received a timely confidence boost about being drafted to the AFL Women’s competition after taking part in a trial day with Brisbane on Sunday.

The 24-year-old midfielder was invited to to take part by Brisbane coach Craig Starcevich following strong performances for Burnie in the Tasmanian Women’s League, and has nominated Queensland as her state of choice if she is drafted.

This means she can only selected by the Lions up until the last three picks for each team in October’s draft.

“This was really the last chance to show them what I’ve got, and there were 90-100 girls there,’’ she said.

“It was really good and an amazing experience. As I haven’t played that next level to be around the girls who are at that level was exciting.

“I was really happy with how I went and knowing what I could bring to the competition.”

The day involved skill work, match simulations and fitness testing.

It is believed three Docker have nominated for the October 12 draft, with Gibson joining Ellyse Gamble and Emma Humphries in putting their hands up.

It is also believed former Coaster Jessica Wuetschner, now based in Western Australia, has also nominated.
