AFL Tasmania, New Horizons and the City of Launceston are proud to announce that the AFL National Inclusion Carnival will be held in Tasmania in 2018.
The National Inclusion Carnival is for all ability footballers and sees teams from right across the country compete in a carnival that will take place from June 18-23 in Launceston.
It is a carnival that encourages everyone to embrace and participate in Australian Rules Football.
AFL Tasmania in partnership with New Horizons and the City of Launceston won the right to host the carnival due to a strong application that saw fantastic support from all parties to coordinate a strong event.
The tournament will take place across venues in Launceston, with the finals for the event to be staged at UTAS Stadium as a curtain raiser to Hawthorn versus Gold Coast.
Tasmania has the highest rate of disability in Australia, making it very special for the state to be hosting the Inclusion Carnival with athletes of all abilities on show.
AFL Tasmania’s Jackson Hills is excited to see the event come to the state.
“It is fantastic for the state to have the National Inclusion Carnival and play host to talented teams from right across the country.
“I think our Tasmanian Inclusion team will get a real buzz in pulling on the map jumper to compete in a National Carnival on their doorstep.
“The support and commitment of New Horizons, Launceston City Council and Hawthorn Football Club has been outstanding and it is that support that has seen Tasmania win the rights to host this event.
“We are really appreciative of everyone’s support and hard work in partnership with AFL Tasmania to lure what will be a really exciting event for the state.”
