Yesterday’s announcement from AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan has seen a $200,000 injection into the talent pathway in Tasmania. This funding boost assists in subsidising over 100 players within AFL endorsed AFL Tasmania talent programs. It is an exciting announcement that will significantly reduce the burden on Tasmanian families within the talent pathway.

AFL Tasmania will be applying a levy subsidy to AFL endorsed talent programs from 2018, in the process, we want to be clear on the programs that the subsidy applies to. The programs that will receive subsidisation are listed below.

  • Under 16 boys State Academy
  • Under 17 boys State Academy
  • Under 18 boys and girls State Academy
  • Allies for boys and girls
  • Woomeras Under 16 (National Indigenous girls)
  • Medleys Under 16 (National Multicultural girls)
  • Flying Boomerangs Under 16 (National Indigenous boys)
  • World Team Under 16 (National Multicultural boys)
Details on how the subsidy will be distributed will be communicated to each of the above talent programs in the coming weeks and months.
