Round 14, the last of three midyear rounds with the bye, saw our Tasmanian contingent again impress, with a star ‘Roo and a tall Bomber delivering match-winning performances. Written by Josh Partridge.

West Coast vs Essendon – Optus Stadium, Thursday 21/06/18

Tom Bellchambers – Essendon #2

TSL Club Represented: Launceston/North Launceston

In a result few were expecting, Bellchambers played an integral role for the Bombers. Rucking against the formidable combination of Nic Naitanui and Scott Lycett, Bellchambers had 22 hitouts, kicked 1.1 and took seven marks to give Essendon an option throughout. The ruckman’s 13 disposals at 77% efficiency included two rebound 50’s as a floating defender. A standout performance from the tall Bomber. AFL Fantasy Points: 88

Josh Green  – Essendon #15

TSL Club Represented: Clarence

Josh Green limped off the ground in the second quarter but returned shortly after. Despite returning, Green was kept quiet, registering just four disposals and 0.1 in a slightly disappointing game for the recently returned Bomber. With the Bombers building some form, it will be interesting to see how Green responds against North Melbourne in round 15 with increased pressure for spots. AFL Fantasy Points: 18

Hawthorn vs Gold Coast – University of Tasmania Stadium, Saturday 23/06/18

Lachie Weller – Gold Coast #14

Originally From: Burnie Dockers

Lachie Weller’s role within this Suns’ set-up has morphed into a behind the ball role, especially against the more successful sides like Hawthorn. This role was exemplified with 70% of Weller’s 14 disposals coming in the defensive 50 of UTAS Stadium on Saturday. Weller’s 14 touches went at 64% against the Hawks, including four rebound and two inside 50’s, which will be enough to keep him in the elite group at the Suns. AFL Fantasy Points: 51

Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne – Etihad Stadium, Saturday 23/06/18

Ben Brown – North Melbourne #50

TSL Club Represented: Devonport/ Glenorchy

Is there anything this man can’t do? Big Ben Brown channelled his inner World Cup skills to team with Jack Ziebell to help the ‘Roos record a thrilling victory in the dying stages of their clash with the Western Bulldogs. Brown’s soccer goal to Ziebell in the dying stages may be crucial if the ‘Roos are to clinch a spot in the top eight come September. On top of this moment of brilliance, Brown extended his Coleman Medal lead by kicking five goals as North Melbourne’s best player on the ground. With Jeremy Cameron facing suspension, Brown will have the opportunity to further his lead and continue kicking goals. AFL Fantasy Points: 81

Collingwood vs Carlton – MCG, Sunday 24/06/18

Jeremy Howe  – Collingwood #38

TSL Club Represented: Hobart

A 90% efficiency rate meant that Howe was Mr Reliable for Collingwood out of defence in their win over Carlton on Sunday. Howe’s 21 disposals included 10 contested possessions, nine marks and a mammoth 13 intercept possessions for the Pies, underlining his status as one of the game’s most productive defenders. This is the kind of high quality performance that Collingwood supporters have come to expect from Howe and he delivers almost weekly. AFL Fantasy Points: 84

Brody Mihocek – Collingwood #41

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Mihocek continues to impress for Collingwood, flying under the radar as a forward option. Collecting eight disposals along the wing and inside the forward 50, Mihocek took six marks, laid four tackles, and kicked 1.1. This fairy-tale journey of hard work and perseverance continues for Mihocek, with this performance likely enough to make it continue. AFL Fantasy Points: 64

Liam Jones – Carlton #14

TSL Club Represented: North Hobart

Very unlucky not to be named in Carlton’s best players on Sunday, Jones had a day out overhead for the Blues. A career-high 14 marks and a season high 17 disposals and seven rebound 50’s resulted in a very good day offensively for Jones as the one-win Blues pushed the Pies to the brink for most of the match. This match shows what Jones is capable of as an offensive defender and will please many Blues fans. AFL Fantasy Points: 99 – season high
