Tasmanian ruckman Tim Auckland is set to gain vital experience after being added to the Adelaide Crows’ SANFL squad.

The Crows’ squad has been hit by injury in 2018 with big men Reilly O’Brien (shoulder), Paul Hunter (ankle) and Harry Dear (knee) facing extended periods on the sidelines.

Through the AFL’s NAB Talent Pathway program, 18-year-old Auckland, at 197cm, has been selected to cover for these losses and will gain valuable experience in the process.

Auckland, who plays his club football with Launceston, played a key role in the Tassie Mariners’ successful 2018 Division 2 Under-18 Academy Series after being invited by the AFL to a ‘talls’ camp in Melbourne in April.

Auckland will make his SANFL debut this weekend when the Crows take on Sturt at Peter Motley Oval in Unley from 2:10pm.
