Round 17 of the AFL Premiership season saw Ben Brown notch his half-century of goals and the likes of Mav Weller, Brody Mihocek and Mitch Robinson shine. Here is Josh Partridge’s wrap on how our Tasmanian contingent fared across a round full of shock results.

Adelaide vs Geelong – Adelaide Oval, Thursday 12/07/18

Hugh Greenwood – Adelaide #1

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

Thursday night marked Hugh Greenwood’s lowest disposal output so far this season, with 12 touches at an efficiency rate of 50%. Despite his lack of efficiency with the ball, Greenwood played a crucial role as the Crows’ were too good for the Cats, chipping in with four marks, five score involvements and six tackles – including four inside 50. AFL Fantasy Points: 66

Jake Kolodjashnij – Geelong #8

TSL Club Represented: Launceston

Jake Kolodjashnij is back to his natural ball winning and efficient best, with 17 touches at 88%. Kolodjashnij was forceful in defence for the Cats with 13 uncontested possessions, three rebound 50’s and an impressive 11 one percenters. After a few losses, Geelong’s defence now sits third in the competition, but Kolodjashnij plays a key role within the side and will be a key figure ahead of a potential finals tilt. AFL Fantasy Points: 54

St Kilda vs Carlton – Etihad Stadium, Friday 13/07/18

Jimmy Webster – St Kilda #29

TSL Club Represented: Glenorchy

The great J-Web can’t seem to catch a break on the injury front at the moment, with the rebounding defender coming off the ground and not playing any part in the fourth quarter due to a groin complaint. Prior to this, Webster was putting together a pretty solid game, collecting 18 disposals at an efficiency of 78% with 213 metres gained. AFL Fantasy Points: 66

Maverick Weller – St Kilda #44

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Mav played one of his better games this year in the Saints’ big win over Carlton. Weller collected 15 disposals at 87% efficiency and laid a season-high seven tackles to brutalise his way to victory. Taking four marks for the match, Mav kicked 1.1 and created regular opportunities for the Saints with three inside 50’s and four score involvements throughout. AFL Fantasy Points: 86

Liam Jones – Carlton #14

TSL Club Represented: North Hobart

After Matthew Kreuzer went down with a raised heart-rate complaint, Liam Jones stepped into the second ruck role usually held by fellow Tasmanian Andrew Phillips. Certainly, a different role to his usual, Jones collected nine disposals and nine hit outs at an efficiency of 67% and even managed to throwback to his days as a forward, drifting inside 50, but managing just the one behind. AFL Fantasy Points: 62

Hawthorn vs Brisbane – University of Tasmania Stadium, Saturday 14/07/18

Mitch Robinson – Brisbane #5

TSL Club Represented: Lauderdale

As the Lions returned to Tasmania and left victorious, ‘Robbo’ was integral to the winning performance. Named in Brisbane’s best players, Mitch Robinson kicked two goals, collected 17 disposals at 59% and laid five tackles for the Lions. Slowly returning to his pre-injury form, Robbo is a key member of this rising Brisbane line-up at an exciting time for the club. AFL Fantasy Points: 84

Gold Coast vs Essendon –  Metricon Stadium, Saturday 14/07/18

Lachie Weller – Gold Coast #14

Originally From: Burnie Dockers

It was yet another solid run on Saturday for Lachie Weller with 21 disposals at an efficiency of 67%. Lachie was able to consistently find space for the Suns, collecting 15 uncontested possessions and four marks. He’s quickly becoming the go to man in and out of defence with the former Burnie Docker having five inside and three rebound 50’s. AFL Fantasy Points: 72

Tom Bellchambers – Essendon #2

TSL Club Represented: Launceston/North Launceston

Similar to Weller, this was a trademark game for Tom Bellchambers, with 28 hit outs and 10 disposals just playing his role for the side. Bellchambers’ disposal efficiency took a bit of a hit this week with only 30% of his disposals deemed effective. Despite this, the Launceston product laid four tackles, had seven score assists and kicked 0.2 in the Bombers’ 44-point win. AFL Fantasy Points: 92

Greater Western Sydney vs Richmond – Spotless Stadium, Saturday 14/07/18

Jack Riewoldt – Richmond #8

TSL Club Represented: Clarence

Ranked first for marks inside 50, Jack Riewoldt has been exceptional for the Tigers this year and Saturday’s match at Spotless Stadium was no different. Riewoldt finished with eight marks, two of which were inside 50, and kicked 2.2 in the Tigers’ narrow loss to the Giants. Floating outside of the forward 50 for much of the game, Jack delivered five inside 50’s for the Tiges with his 15 disposals. AFL Fantasy Points: 88

Toby Nankervis – Richmond #25

TSL Club Represented: North Launceston

The big Nank was a bit quieter around the ground than his usual lofty standards but was still solid for the Tigers. Picking up nine disposals at an efficiency of 78%, Nank had 25 hit outs and slotted a goal for the reigning premiers. Look for him to bounce back and dominate against the St Kilda ruck combo of Tom Hickey and Rowan Marshall. AFL Fantasy Points: 59

Collingwood vs West Coast – MCG, Sunday 15/07/18

IC: AFL Photos

Jeremy Howe  – Collingwood #38

TSL Club Represented: Hobart

Marking machine Jeremy Howe was at it again on Sunday afternoon, with 11 marks in the Pies’ big loss to the Eagles. On top of that, Howe snagged 24 disposals at a respectable efficiency rate of 71%, with a massive 17 of those disposals uncontested. Once again, Howe topped the ground in rebound 50’s with six and was one of the Pies best on the ground. AFL Fantasy Points: 96

Brody Mihocek – Collingwood #41

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

Brody Mihocek had a day full of career highs on Sunday, with 15 disposals, eight marks and four inside 50’s eclipsing all previous career high markers from the former Burnie defender. Now playing up forward, Mihocek kicked 2.3 and obviously had opportunities for a big day out for the Pies. His stock is rising and the small forward, goal sneak role is suiting him to a tee. AFL Fantasy Points: 93 – Career High

North Melbourne vs Sydney – Etihad Stadium, Sunday 15/07/18

Ben Brown – North Melbourne #50

TSL Club Represented: Devonport / Glenorchy

What a match! And Ben Brown certainly played his part within this spectacle in North’s tight loss to the Swans. Kicking four goals to extend his Coleman Medal lead over Buddy Franklin to eight, it also notched up Brown’s half century for 2018. Disposal wise, Brown collected 17 touches and took eight marks for the ‘Roos to keep them in it consistently. AFL Fantasy Points: 104

IC: AFL Photos

Robbie Fox – Sydney #42

TSL Club Represented: Burnie Dockers

In his second game back in Swans colours, Fox collected 13 disposals, 11 of which were uncontested, at a disposal efficiency of 77%. Fox laid a season-high five tackles to apply the pressure for the match-winning Swans and managed to slot a goal for his troubles. Fox’s current Swans role is an interesting one, splitting his time between defence and forward. Hopefully this performance is enough for him to stay in the side. AFL Fantasy Points: 65

Fremantle vs Port Adelaide – Optus Stadium, Sunday 15/07/18

Alex Pearce  – Fremantle #25

TSL Club Represented: Devonport

In a low-scoring, see-sawing encounter, Pearce played his full lock down defender role on Sunday against the Power, with 100% of his disposals coming in the defensive half of the ground. Pearce collected nine disposals and two marks as well as two rebound 50’s for the Dockers. A clash against the Bombers waits for Pearce, with a potential match up with Mitch Brown looming. AFL Fantasy Points: 30
