With plenty of Tasmanians plying their trade interstate, David Ingram gives the rundown on how they all performed in the various state leagues across the country.

VFL

North Melbourne’s tough 2021 campaign continued on the weekend as they suffered a third consecutive defeat by a triple-figure margin, this time to Box Hill. There was plenty to like about the Roos’ Tasmanian representatives, however, with debutants Elijah Reardon (18 disposals, 6 marks) and Miller Hodge (13 disposals, 3 marks) both performing admirably, while Harrison Gunther (18 disposals, 7 marks) continues to impress at VFL level. Elsewhere it was a relatively quiet weekend for the VFL’s Tasmanian contingent: Eli Templeton was again huge for Port Melbourne, gathering 37 touches, 6 marks and 8 tackles as his side went down to Coburg, Mackenzie Willis was prominent for Southport in their huge win over Aspley with 25 disposals and 6 marks, while Williamstown’s Mitch Hibberd was down on his usual 2021 output but still amassed a team-high 24 disposals and laid 11 tackles.

Both competitions took a break this week to accommodate the state game at Adelaide Oval on Saturday. No Tasmanians took part in the match which, for the record, the South Australians won comfortably, 20.10 (130) to 11.11 (77).
